Shanti Mohling, MD, FACOG

 

Dr. Shanti Mohling is a board-certified and fellowship-trained gynecologist and gynecologic surgeon.  Joining NWEPS in May of 2021, Dr. brings her outstanding talents in endometriosis care, gynecologic surgery, and biomechanics to our practice.

​

Dr. Mohling is committed to providing world class surgical care to women with complex gynecologic surgical issues including endometriosis, chronic pelvic pain, heavy bleeding, fibroids, pelvic organ prolapse, and incontinence.  

​

Dr. Mohling focuses on minimally invasive surgical techniques for all surgeries and can complete most surgeries via a robotic surgery or laparoscopy (tiny incisions). Even in cases that might be performed Through large abdominal incisions by many surgeons, Dr. Mohling has the skill to complete these procedures through a minimally invasive approach.

Dr. Mohling has great experience and knowledge in the biomechanics aspects of pelvic pain and dysfunction.  As a former massage therapist during her pre-medical years, she maintains a deep appreciation for the role that the muscles, tendons and ligaments can play in perpetuation of pelvic pain.

Dr. Mohling is an in-demand speaker and educator on the topic of advanced gynecologic surgery and endometriosis and gives educational talks and tutors other surgeons both locally and at national and international meetings.

​

Dr. Mohling's past career includes a history of service in academic medical centers as well as years of private practice as a generalist in both obstetrics and gynecology.  She was previously the director of Gynecologic Surgery for the residency program at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, TN, where she was also associate director of their AAGL Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (MIGS) fellowship.  She is deeply involved with the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopy (AAGL), serving as Past President of the Foundation of the AAGL as well as a past member of the Scientific Program Committee (2019).  

 

Dr. Mohling brings to NWEPS a devotion to her patients and to furthering the science and surgery for patients with pelvic pain and endometriosis.
